Microsoft Server 2012 32 Bit

These instructions solve issues around installing/running your old AutoCAD 2012 on newer versions of 64bit Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10. Some common issues are error messages like these

  • “This operating system is not supported by AutoCAD® 2012”
  • “You cannot install this product on the current operating system”
  • “You are attempting to use a 32-bit installer on a 64-bit operating system”
  • “This is a 32-bit AutoCAD® 2012. It cannot be installed on 64-bit Windows”

On 64-bit Windows OSes, 32-bit applications are given their own directory to store application file, specifically Program Files (x86), and their own place in the registry to store data, Wow6432Node. 32-bit applications are transparently redirected to these locations by the OS – the application doesn’t even know that this happening.

You can automatically solve these problems using our Longbow Converter App, it fixes and manages the AutoCAD 2012 installation so that you can be up and running again… Follow these instructions:

How to install AutoCAD 2012

  1. Obtain your purchased copy of the Longbow Converter here
  2. Start the Converter App and note the user interface
  3. Select the 1st tab named “AutoCAD 32bit Installer Converter
    1. Using the “. . .” button, selection your AutoCAD installation CD
    2. Next, click the “Convert button and follow instructions
  4. Once the conversion process is complete
    1. click Install/Run Setup to start setup
    2. Simply install as normal, remembering to…
      1. Close the setup program when the installation is complete.
      2. Now back in the Converter app and make sure it’s completed the final stage of processing using the “Old AutoCAD Program Reviver” tab
  5. Now run your AutoCAD as normal

I need to migrate application from Windows 2003 to Windows 2012 R2. There is a SNMP extension agent DLL (32-bit), that needs to be migrated as well.

I have installed SNMP service and tried to configure extension agent.

Windows 2012 32 bit vs 64 bit

At first, I tried to do it in the same way as it was on Windows 2003 :HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesSNMPParametersExtensionAgents :

and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMyCompanyMyAgentCurrentVersion :'Pathname'='C:binmyagent'.

But the extenstion agent did not start and in System event log I found this log :

The SNMP Service is ignoring extension agent dll C:binmyagent because it is missing or misconfigured.

The file 'myagent.dll' is present. So I tried to add 'dll' extension to registry key with same result.

After some Internet research I found, that registry keys for 32-bit applications should be under Wow6432Node sud-tree. So I moved the configuration to registry tree :

and changed the configuration on extension agent to point to correct registry sub-tree. After this, there is no error log in System event log, but DLL is not loaded by any process (checked by Process Explorer).

Does anyone have any suggestions? (Recompilation to 64-bit is unfortunately not an option).

I had the same problem with our 32-bit SNMP extension agent DLL which was solved by this way:

I think you do not have to change path to the registry subtree because HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftware key is redirected to physical path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareWow6432Node byRegistry Redirector.

I hope it helps. Regards, Milan.
